XY Systems
Functions of XY Systems
The XY systems, alternatively known as scatter charts, are similar to the line charts. One may confuse the two especially when a person displays the scatter charts with attached lines. It is important to differentiate the two to avoid getting confused when selecting one of them to use in the office. The main difference lies in the manner in which they both display their data. Scatter charts, which have two axes, which indicate the value and show the numerical data on both the x and y-axis. The system combines the values to form a single point and exhibits them in irregular clusters or intervals. One may create a scatter chart on a worksheet in Microsoft Excel though the layout may change without affecting the value indicated on each axis.
One should note that a chart's x-axis exclusively functions as the value axis meaning that the only item exhibited on the x-axis is the numeric data. A person may display the numeric data flexibly by altering the scaling alternatives on the axis. XY systems are ideal for exhibiting or contrasting the numeric values like statistical data, engineering data and scientific data. Professionals may use these systems when they want to alter the x-axis scale or when they want to convert it into logarithmic scales. Alternatively, professionals may use it in order to demonstrate the worksheet data, which includes the grouped values or paired values. Adjusting the scales in the XY systems enables one to disclose additional information concerning the paired or grouped values.
Similarly, one may use it to compare data points with no regards to the timing. Scatter charts that have a great deal data provide a person with a wider variety to compare. They also show comparison between two bulky data sets and interesting similarities as opposed to displaying the major differences between two data points. It is possible to display the XY systems with lines or without the lines when intending to connect them with the various data points. It is also possible to display the connecting lines without using the data markers. Using the data markers to exhibit the connecting lines does not affect their arrangement. Creating a scatter chart is quite easy especially if a person has basic computer skills. One should begin by arranging the data. The first row contains the x-values while the adjacent columns or rows contain the y-values.
After placing them in this arrangement, a professional may highlight both the y-values and the x-values that they intend to place in the scatter chart. On 'insert menu', select 'chart' in order to establish a chart wizard. Subsequently, select XY systems in the 'chart type' icon. People that plot forex charts use the scatter diagrams to determine the values that should be on each axis on the final graph. This allows them to detect errors early enough thus enabling them to come up with an accurate forex sheet. Marketers, human resource personnel, finance personnel and the sales people in a company normally use the charts to scale these on their graphs when reviewing the company's performance.
